Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Malika Ghendouri, Executive Vice President of Veolia for Central and Eastern European countries.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of Veolia’s operations in Armenia and expressed hope that close cooperation would be established between the Government of Armenia and the company to implement an effective water policy. Nikol Pashinyan stressed the need to take consistent steps to reduce water losses, adding that this would also contribute to a more efficient tariff policy.
Malika Ghendouri expressed confidence that following the recent changes in Armenia, mutually beneficial cooperation would develop with the new Armenian government, which would help improve the quality of services provided by Veolia Djur and fulfill the company’s commitments. The Vice President of Veolia underlined that, together with the Government of Armenia, they would be able to find solutions to all existing issues.
The Prime Minister noted that the debt accumulated for water consumption by the government residences located in the territory of the "Kond Government Residences Complex" SNCO amounts to 54 million AMD and added that he has already instructed for it to be paid. In this context, Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the importance of the company being consistent in all such cases and increasing operational efficiency, paying attention not only to the socially vulnerable and disadvantaged but especially to solvent yet negligent consumers. “We are interested in Veolia Djur making more investments and securing greater revenues for itself. I assure you that during the tenure of our government, you will not encounter any personal interests of the Prime Minister, but only the protection of citizens’ interests,” said Nikol Pashinyan, proposing that a joint working group be formed with the French company to discuss all issues and present concrete solutions.
