In the Yerevanyan district of Yeghvard, 1,500 linear meters of water pipeline and an equal length of sewer network are being reconstructed to serve 17 apartment buildings and 40 public facilities. This is the 6th joint Veolia Water–community project in Yeghvard, under which water and sewer lines are replaced, where necessary, prior to asphalt paving works. Frequent breakdowns, illegal connections, and an outdated system dating back to the Soviet era are the main factors preventing consumers from receiving regular water supply. Although the district is supplied with 28 liters of water per second, nearly half of it was lost on the way to consumers. After completion of the works, it is planned to reduce the flow to 15 liters per second through the new system, which will ensure sufficient pressure even on the upper floors. Alongside the main construction, the “Nor Hachn” operations unit is also eliminating existing аварии on old pipelines, while zoning specialists are identifying and locating hidden leaks to avoid future asphalt removal and emergency repairs. At present, in parallel with the Yerevanyan district, reconstruction works are also underway on the water and sewer networks of Shahumyan, Spandaryan, Komitas, and Isahakyan streets. Later, works will also begin on Shinarnarer Street. As a result of these citywide improvements, residents of Yeghvard will enjoy reliable, high-pressure water supply during the summer heat, as well as a smoothly operating sewer system.
