Especially during the summer season, when water consumption increases and water supply schedules are disrupted, it is unfair when drinking water intended for other consumers is used for irrigation purposes. That is why throughout the year, “Veolia Djur” continues to fight against this harmful practice. These days, the VeoliaTeam is actively working in the Kotayk region to detect cases of water theft. In July alone, the “Abovyan” commercial unit uncovered 55 different violations. Over the past 1.5 years, a total of 596 violation reports have been documented.

Bypass pipelines, illegal water connections, meter tampering—in Abovyan, Arzni, Mayakovski village, Balakhovit, Byureghavan, Garni, and Nurnus... These cases involve significant losses of drinking water, as the connections were made using 20-millimeter pipes, and in all instances, the water was used to irrigate trees and flowers. The impact is not limited to residents of those specific areas—part of Yerevan is also affected, since the main sources supplying water to the capital pass through Abovyan.
The video footage shows how the illegal connections are being dismantled, and how specialists from "Veolia Djur" collect water samples from the discovered illegal lines. When exposed to a chemical reagent, the water immediately turns pink—indicating it is chlorinated and therefore confirms it is drinking water supplied by Veolia Djur.
