Announcements of temporary water supply interruptions are often met with understandable concern by our customers. However, certain essential works require a temporary interruption of water supply in order to deliver long-term improvements to the water distribution system. Through these works, the Veolia Team prevents water losses and returns the saved water to the operating network, improving the overall efficiency of the system. Within Veolia Jur CJSC's service area, there are still communities where water continues to be lost through obsolete pipelines that were inherited from the past and are no longer in operation. The Company is systematically identifying and permanently disconnecting these abandoned pipelines, addressing problems that have persisted for many years.
A few days ago, one such inactive pipeline was disconnected in Ejmiatsin, where it had been causing a continuous water loss of approximately 3–4 litres per second. Today, another similar case was identified at the intersection of Spandaryan and Nalbandyan streets in Ejmiatsin. During the preliminary inspection, specialists from the Ejmiatsin Operations Unit had identified one inactive pipeline. However, once the asphalt pavement was removed, they discovered four additional abandoned pipelines beneath the surface. To eliminate these water losses and permanently resolve the issue, a temporary water supply interruption was announced. Immediately afterwards, the Veolia Team commenced the pipeline disconnection works to prevent further losses and improve the efficiency of the water supply network.
