In cooperation between Veolia Water and the Yerevan Municipality, the worn-out and dilapidated sewer networks on Titogradyan Street and Avanesov 2nd Lane in the Erebuni administrative district are being replaced with new ones. Due to the deteriorated sewer line on Titogradyan Street, the sewer systems of School No. 160, Kindergarten No. 10, and nearby residential buildings on Avanesov 2nd Lane are also frequently clogged. Almost every week, Veolia Water employees receive reports of sewer overflows and blockages from these addresses. However, it has not always been possible to respond quickly, as parts of the sewer network run beneath garages. Since the Yerevan Municipality is planning medium-scale rehabilitation works on Titogradyan Street, it was decided to address all existing issues in advance to avoid the need to break up the asphalt later. Currently, 200 meters of sewer line on Titogradyan Street are being replaced with new 400 mm polyethylene pipes. After that, a 500-meter section on Avanesov 2nd Lane will be replaced with 300 mm polyethylene pipes. The works are expected to be completed within about one month, after which another long-standing issue at these addresses will be resolved. However, the most important aspect of all these efforts is raising public awareness. It is essential to understand the scale, complexity, and cost of such large-scale works and to use the sewer system properly so that it can serve effectively for as long as possible.
