In Syunik region, Veolia Djur has launched a major water infrastructure project with its own resources. The “Ashotavan–Hatsavan” water pipeline and the internal distribution network of Ashotavan village are being reconstructed, with a total of 3,920 meters of pipeline being replaced.
Since road asphalting works have started on the H74 highway, and the pipeline was passing through the central part of the road, it was decided to take the opportunity to relocate the pipeline to the roadside. This will prevent the newly paved road from being damaged in case of future accidents.
At present, the Sisian operational unit is reconstructing a 2,820-meter section of the 17.5 km-long pipeline. However, the Veolia team is not only rebuilding the main water pipeline but is also renewing a 1,100-meter section of Ashotavan’s internal distribution network. The old, deteriorated system could no longer be operated, which had been disrupting the village’s water supply.
With the installation of new polyethylene pipes ranging from 20 to 160 mm in diameter, breakdowns will be eliminated, water losses will be prevented, and several dozen consumers in Ashotavan will benefit from a reliable water supply with stable and sufficient pressure.
