As part of the Mandatory Capital Works Program (MCWP) in the Sasunik community of Aragatsotn Province, Veolia Djur is investing 195 million AMD to reconstruct the water distribution network.
Due to old and deteriorated pipelines, as well as illegal connections, the village was experiencing water losses of up to 80%. Even the 60 liters of water per second supplied to the village have been insufficient to ensure a regular water supply.
Within the scope of this project, approximately 12 kilometers of polyethylene pipelines with diameters ranging from 25 mm to 160 mm are planned to be constructed. The water metering units of 490 subscribers will be relocated to demarcation points, ensuring more accurate metering and more efficient system management.
To date, 1,500 linear meters of water pipelines have already been replaced. Upon completion of the project, a significant reduction in operational costs is expected, along with a more manageable distribution network and water savings of up to 15 liters per second.
By taking on the operation of Armenia’s water supply system, the Veolia team carries out daily work to both eliminate malfunctions and implement large-scale water infrastructure projects. These efforts are aimed not at temporary fixes but at creating a stable and reliable system for the future. In Sasunik, Veolia Djur is currently building exactly such a stable and reliable water system.
