The Arzakan–Kanaker–Zovuni water main has suffered a major failure. Immediately after the failure was detected, water supply was suspended in the areas served by the water main. In the event of major failures of this nature, changes in the normal flow of water may cause temporary turbidity. Water quality monitoring has continued throughout the incident. Chlorine has been detected at all monitored water sampling points. However, the technical condition of the water main is currently the most pressing concern. The situation requires additional professional solutions.Throughout the night, Veolia Water Armenia specialists worked under floodlights at the site of the failure, at a depth of 6 metres.
Although the company is currently using all technically and engineering-feasible solutions to provide water supply to the affected communities from alternative sources, given the complexity of the incident and the technical condition of the water main, water supply disruptions in some communities unfortunately cannot be ruled out.
