Investments in Particularly Problematic Areas
These days, Veolia is responding to the complaints of residents in the village of Jrvezh, Kotayk Province — and it is doing so through concrete action. As part of this year’s Mandatory Capital Investment Program, the company is investing more than 610 million AMD in the western and central parts of the Jrvezh community to reconstruct nearly 20 km of water pipelines, benefiting 1,510 subscribers and eliminating water losses of up to 30 liters per second.
The old pipelines, which passed through private residential properties, had become the main source of both visible and hidden leaks. Numerous illegal connections were also disrupting the normal operation of the network. The construction project is scheduled to take one year, a timeframe deliberately chosen to allow for winter pauses.
Two contracting companies are working in the two sections of Jrvezh. Once the works are complete, the water supply issues in Jrvezh will become a thing of the past. The area will benefit from a manageable distribution network, improved water delivery, and a saving of 30 liters of water per second — a volume that will be redirected to parts of Yerevan experiencing shortages due to high consumption.
