Valuing collaboration with educational institutions, Veolia Water warmly welcomes curious boys and girls, introducing them to the journey and intricacies of water production and supply. In this way, the company contributes to shaping today’s consumers into tomorrow’s law-abiding subscribers and, why not, a generation of patriots. The Veolia team is convinced that the value of water, along with the importance of its purity and conservation, should be imparted from an early age. Guided by this belief, the company’s water treatment plants and laboratories continuously open their doors to students from various schools, providing them with a close-up view of how the safety and quality of daily water supply are ensured. In November, the central and regional laboratories of Veolia Water hosted students from the 8th and 9th grades of several schools. These visits were organized within the framework of chemistry projects focused on water purification and disinfection. During each visit, students:
Learned about the long journey of water, from natural sources to the consumer’s tap;
Discovered how samples are collected at daily-regulated reservoirs and what checks water undergoes every day;
Visited the chemical section of the laboratories, where they learned to determine water hardness and observed the chlorination and disinfection processes;
Explored the microbiological section, studied water samples using professional equipment, worked with microscopes, and observed microbiological safety inspections.
Naïra Bilyan, Head of the Central Laboratory, and the specialists organized precise, accessible, and engaging tours for each group. The visits created a unique bridge between theoretical knowledge and real research work. Students left the company with new knowledge, skills, and a deepened sense of responsibility.
These visits once again confirm that water safety and quality are not only the work of professionals but a shared responsibility. An educated and informed generation is the best ally in conserving water resources. Veolia Water will continue its educational mission, bringing new generations closer to science, the true value of water, and the collective responsibility of its preservation. Drinking water is not merely a service—it is the quality of life and the foundation of tomorrow’s sustainability.
