During the night, an emergency incident occurred involving unauthorized interference with the Ejmiatsin–Voskevaz–Oshakan–Voskehat valve junction. Certain residents tampered with the system in an attempt to redirect water toward their villages for the purpose of irrigating orchards.
As a result, pressure increased sharply in the 500 mm cast iron pipeline, causing multiple ruptures—6 to 7 locations—leading to a water loss of approximately 40 liters per second. Currently, the villages of Oshakan, Voskehat, and Voskevaz are without water, and there are pressure issues in Ejmiatsin city and surrounding villages.
The Veolia Team has been on site since early morning, working to find a solution to the situation.
The company is preparing to refer the matter to the police in order to hold those responsible for the illegal actions accountable.
