Dear Citizens,
In recent days, certain claims have been circulated in the media and on social networks alleging that the drinking water supply schedule in Yerevan has been disrupted and that the schedule published by Veolia Water CJSC on April 3 of this year has been revised and worsened. The Water Committee of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia and Veolia Water CJSC officially state that these claims are false. As a reminder, Veolia Water CJSC published water supply schedules in November 2025 and February 2026, according to which the water supply for many subscribers in Yerevan was to be reduced to 17 hours per day from May 1 to September 16, 2026. As a result of the Government’s intervention, the Water Committee and Veolia Water reviewed and improved the published schedule, undertaking to intensify their efforts in the following two key areas:
- Carrying out major rehabilitation works on Yerevan’s water supply systems and distribution networks;
- Identifying new water sources and transferring additional water resources to the city of Yerevan.
As a result, we are pleased to note that, as of July 2, subscribers in Yerevan continue to receive water according to the same schedule that was in effect before May 1. In other words, the schedule published on April 3 has not yet entered into force, as Veolia Water and the Water Committee have successfully completed the above-mentioned works at an accelerated pace. Within the framework of the agreement concluded between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and Veolia Water CJSC, capital works worth nearly AMD 11 billion have been almost completed in the administrative districts of Nubarashen, Ajapnyak, Malatia-Sebastia and Kentron in Yerevan, as well as in a number of regions across the country. In addition, intensive work has been carried out and is continuing to transfer water resources from three new water sources to Yerevan.We also consider it important to emphasize that the water supply interruptions recorded over the past two days in the Arabkir, Kentron and Erebuni administrative districts of Yerevan were not related to the current water supply schedule. They were caused by repair works on the damaged section of the Arzni-1 water main. Specifically, a 90-meter section of the 900 mm diameter pipeline in the Ptghni Gorge was replaced with a 1,000 mm diameter steel pipeline. The announced interruption of up to 36 hours was determined not only by the repair works themselves but also by the technological process of refilling the water main and reservoirs, which requires several additional hours. As of July 2, the repair works have been completed, and the reservoirs are currently being refilled. Regular water supply in the Arabkir, Kentron and Erebuni administrative districts will be fully restored within the announced timeframe.We urge everyone to rely exclusively on official information and to obtain updates regarding water supply only through the official announcements of the Water Committee and Veolia Water CJSC.
