Inventorying Issues, Providing Solutions, and Improving the Water Supply System

“Veolia Djur” constantly keeps its finger on the pulse of the water supply system. Throughout the year, the company manages to provide consumers in its service areas with water supply that often exceeds the hours set by the official schedule. However, during the summer, due to unprecedented high temperatures recorded across the country and peak water consumption, schedule disruptions occur in certain areas.
Water usage volumes increase sharply, and there is a rise in cases where drinking water is used for irrigation, which coincides with a decrease in water yield from natural sources. On the other hand, the normal functioning of the system is also disrupted by unauthorized interventions from residents. One such case occurred on Saturday, when residents interfered with the Ejmiatsin–Voskevas–Voskehat–Oshakan valve junction, attempting to divert drinking water for irrigation purposes. Another incident took place in Parakar, where residents shut off one of the valves feeding their neighborhood.
Meanwhile, the VeoliaTeam is operating under an intense schedule: on one front, investing in the reconstruction of the water supply system, and on another, actively fighting against illegalities and eliminating daily emergencies and issues within the system.
All these efforts serve a single purpose: to save water and redirect it to areas facing shortages, thus addressing the problem of water supply interruptions.
In the Nor Marash administrative district, the company’s Mandatory Capital Works Program launched in 2024 is nearing completion. Currently, water supply is being carried out through both old and new networks, which causes inconveniences for consumers. To resolve these issues, short-term shutoffs are sometimes necessary. In parallel, the company continues its investments for this year in cooperation with the Water Committee, within the framework of the Mandatory Capital Works Program.
