The water supply network of Saratak settlement, in the enlarged Artik community of Shirak Province, was constructed around 50 years ago using cast-iron and steel pipelines that are no longer suitable for operation. Over the years, the worn and deteriorated pipes have caused numerous visible and underground failures. The system has also been experiencing significant water losses, reaching 9 litres per second. In addition, pipelines passing through private properties have hindered the provision of a reliable and continuous water supply. Following comprehensive assessments carried out by Veolia Water's District Metered Area (DMA) specialists, it was decided to implement a rehabilitation project in the section of the network where the highest level of water losses had been recorded. Within the framework of Veolia Water's 2026 Mandatory Capital Works Programme, the Company is currently replacing water mains along Central Street and the adjacent left-side section of Saratak. The total investment amounts to AMD 147 million. The project includes the reconstruction of approximately 4.2 km of water mains and service connections with diameters ranging from 40 mm to 160 mm. In addition, the water metering assemblies of 165 customers will be relocated to the property boundary line. These works will gradually eliminate problems that have accumulated over many years. In the near future, the residents of Saratak will experience the tangible benefits of a more reliable and efficient water supply system.
